Research progress of high-entropy oxides

  • High entropy oxides are a new class of materials which are also called entropy stabilized oxides or multicomponent oxides. They have gained significant interest over the years due to their unique structural characteristics and correlated possibilities for control of functional properties. This multi-component approach has created new opportunities for materials design and discovery. The developments in the area of high entropy oxides are highlighted here, including the fundamental understanding, the synthesis methods, the property and applications. Lastly, the future development direction has pointed out.
